I am supposed to write a small research paper identifying the linguistic, political, social, economic, religious and familial conventions and or status of 4 Hispanic groups living in the US. I have to write on Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans and then pick 2 other choices. And conclude with summarizing major differences and commonalties apparent among these groups.

BUT I do not understand what I am writing about, the reading material I have been provided talks little about each topic and each topic is not discussed in every group. Any help explaining this would be helpful.

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. The first site is about the 3 major Hispanic Groups. If you use Google (search engine) you can obtain more information about each group.

Generally Hispanics are classified as ONE group. Although they will all speak Spanish, there is a difference of pronunciation, vocabulary; these are called regional differences, primarily. All Spanish-speaking countries are predominantly Catholic.

To write your research paper on the linguistic, political, social, economic, religious, and familial conventions of Hispanic groups in the US, you will need to gather information on each of these topics for each of the groups you are studying.

For Mexican Americans and Puerto Ricans, you can start by using the reading materials provided and any additional information you can find online or in books about these specific groups. Look for information on their language, political participation, social customs, economic activities, religious practices, and family structures.

For the two additional groups you need to choose, you can use Google or any other search engine to find information specifically about these groups. You can try searching for terms like "linguistic conventions of [group name]", "political participation of [group name]", "social customs of [group name]", "economic activities of [group name]", "religious practices of [group name]", and "family structures of [group name]". This should help you find relevant information for each group.

Remember that not all groups may have extensive information available on all topics, so you may need to prioritize the information you find and focus on the most relevant aspects for each group.

Once you have gathered information on each of the groups, you can write about the major differences and commonalities among them. Start by summarizing the key findings for each topic (linguistic, political, social, economic, religious, and familial conventions) for each group. Then, identify the major differences and commonalities that you observe across the groups. This could include differences in language dialects, political affiliations, social customs, economic activities, religious practices, and family structures.
