When adding 100mL of water to a solution of 50grams of KI in 400mL of water, the total amount of KI in the new solution will be how many grams?

Did I miss something here? The total amount of KI, if no extra is added and none taken away, MUST be 50 grams?

That is what I thought I just needed someone to confirm, it must be a trick question.

Thanks

You're correct, in this case, if no extra KI is added or taken away, the total amount of KI will remain the same. So, the total amount of KI in the new solution will still be 50 grams. There is no trick to the question, as the amount of KI in the solution depends on the initial amount and does not change by simply adding water.
