Help! An inhalant is not a stimulant or a depressant. So... what is it then?????? Puh-leaze help me! My grade this term counts on it.

What kind of inhalant? We inhale many things -- dust, illegal drugs, legal asthma medications, pollen, etc. Please clarify your question.

Inhalants as in like, illegal drugs. but I need to know about stuff like whiteout and nail polish remover. I looked it up, but all I could find were a bunch of people saying "Some drugs, like inhalants (white out, paint thinner) aren't a stimulant or a depressent. They have a category all their own."

So what are they called then?

One web site I visited said they were not classified (such as CNS etc) since they are legal substances used for every day living. Here is a site, however, that does provide a little more information. I think the part you want to read is the part headlined "What can inhalants do to the body?" It talks here about the effect being to act as most anesthetics do--to slow things down. Therefore, classify them for your purposes similarly. I hope this helps.

wait, what is the site called?

Sorry. I meant to post the site with a link but forgot. Here are a couple. The first one seems to be more precise in its wording but the second one lists more of the problem.
