Opinions need aboput world war one!?

The initial cause of WW1 was the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. What do you think of this statement.?

As this site says, the "trigger" was the assassination.... however, there were many causes...

I don't think it was the cause. It was the trigger. The cause was a lot of little countries with nationalistic aspirations, infatuation with military machines, and old prejudices and hatreds. War is caused when a lot of folks think it is to their advantage (economic, political, social, and "religious" advantage) to wage war.
