what follows a linking or action verd

After a linking verb, there'll be a predicate noun or predicate adjective:

~~She is my sister. (is=linking verb; sister=predicate noun)

~~Delilah is very tall for a fourth grader. (is=linking verb; tall=predicate adjective)

After an action verb, if it's a transitive verb used in active voice, there'll be a direct object.

~~James hit the baseball out of the park.
(hit=action verb; baseball=direct object)
