I would leave the one about garlic and beef alone, although your version sounds better. The "until" clause just defines when to do the cooking, and does not modify a noun.
The last one is a classic (and rather humorous) case of a misplaced dangling modifier. It reads like the glasses are doing the crawling. A better version would be
"He found his glasses WHILE crawling under the couch.
One of our English teachers may have a more authoritative answer.

If I have the wrong writeacher, I extremely apologize. Please forgive me and ignore the previous post. There is a person with the same name that caused me a lot of frustration when it came to help with school work and that is why I posted this so people or students are not being fooled when it comes to posting the right corrections for grammar assignments.
