Can someone explain to me what a sub claim is and give me an example

All I can find is that it is a part, or claim on an argument.

Example:
Bob Pursley is growing senile.....arguement
He eats unpeeled bananas sub claim
He does not look back when backing..subclaim
He cant keep up with his wallet or car keys...subclaim

Good example Bob. That was some funny suff, but it made me understand. Thanks:)

Certainly! In the context you provided, a sub claim is a smaller or more specific claim that supports or helps to prove a larger claim or argument. It provides additional evidence or reasoning to support the main claim.

In your example, the main claim is that "Bob Pursley is growing senile." To support this claim, there are three sub claims:

1. "He eats unpeeled bananas." This sub claim suggests an action that might indicate forgetfulness or absent-mindedness.
2. "He does not look back when backing." This sub claim points out a behavior that could indicate impaired cognitive abilities.
3. "He can't keep up with his wallet or car keys." This sub claim highlights instances of memory or organizational difficulties.

These sub claims provide specific examples related to Bob's behavior, which collectively support the main claim that he is growing senile.

Remember, the presence of sub claims or their effectiveness depends on the specific context and argument being made. They are used to provide additional evidence or reasoning to convince the audience of the validity of the main claim.
