Homework Help: Social Studies: World Issues: Why A Woman's Place Is Not The Home

by Georgina Stone

When a man comes home,he is supposed to have his dinner on the table ,which is of course made by his wife, and a women is supposed to clean all day and also do housework too. This is a sexist stereotype and I really disagree with it because both men and women are equal, so a lot of the time both adults take care of the housework and cooking because most women will not waste their time obsessing about cleaning and things. But then again there are some men who are extremely lazy and who don't work. Their wives work and have to take care of the cooking and cleaning just like in the television programme 'The Simpsons' which I know isn't real life but still can happen. Just to show that I'm not being sexist against men there are also some men who work extremely hard at work and also do cleaning and cooking like my dad.

I think that a woman's place is not the home because maybe that was true ages ago, say in the 1960's!, but definitely not now. Women do not do all the ironing, cleaning and cooking because they have better, more important things to do in their lives ,like work so that they can actually earn a living instead of the 'man in the house' working.

I think that both women and men are equal because most women work and that means that they don't stay at home and clean. If everyone all did their part in the housework and all contributed to keep the house neat and tidy by doing chores and things like that than this wouldn't be an issue .That's the solution to this problem.Men and women could take it in turns to cook or clean and it would ,in both ways be after a hard days work. . A woman's place is not the home, and this statement is utterly and totally rubbish because men and women work and men and women clean and cook, so both sexes are equal at doing things so you might as well say that men and women's place is in the home. They share the cooking and cleaning so if you are going to say something that might emply that then you may as well say the more correct sentence.
