Homework Help: Social Studies: World Issues: Racism Advice
by Anika Waldin
Racism has taken place in countries worldwide, dividing many as a nation. It is an act of inhumane indecency, and when looking into the eyes of people attacked by racist actions, you feel their pain.
One must stop and think of the torture individuals must endure as a result of this unnecessary rival. People, let alone children should not be inflicted with this immense suffering. A human being is beautiful each in their unique way. There should be no need to be a recluse in society, just because your skin is a different colour or your eyes a different shape. People who provoke and encourage this behaviour should be educated on why man invented words such as 'individual', 'different' and 'unique'.
The idea of why people act in the repulsive way has most likely occurred in the minds of many. Often picking on others differences is a way of expressing a sense of self-insecurity, but then again it is strange to think that so many have issues with themselves. The past, when discussing rivalry between races, should be left in the past. Part of realising we are all human on the inside is recognising that it is normal for a human to make mistakes, otherwise we would simply not be classified as human.
One example of a races adaptation towards society is an anti- American Negro group in American called the "Ku Klux Klan". In southern states such as Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana where this anti-black group was quite dominant police would often do what would be phrased as 'to turn a blind eye' to offences made towards Negro's, as they thought it would improve the standards in society. American Negro's were therefore limited in where they could live, what jobs they could have and a lot of innocent people died as they were framed, labelled and blamed.
Society has many avenues of racism still alive today. One which has been in existence for hundreds of years is the battle of the 'occupied bank' better known as Israel, where the Jewish wish to claim back their holy homeland from the Israelites, who claim it belongs to them. Nelson Mandella has had a great impact on how people worldwide viewed black people, as human beings, rather than just a 'black'. He had strong beliefs and was passionate for his cause, for this he endured over twenty years imprisonment, but was later to be made prime minister.
People should band together as a whole, rather than just small groups versing others, as this way we can move forward not as the 'blacks' or 'Chinese' but as people.
