math
No, all quadratics in x and y are of the form ax^2 + bxy + cy^2 + dx + ey + f = 0 Now, if you want quadratics where y is expressed as a function of x, then all are of the form y = ax^2 + bx + c where a,b,c can be positive or negative. There's no need for -ax^2 + bx + c.

algebra
what is (x)(x) ?? this is the second time you said x^ we use x^2 for x2 in this format. so x^2 - 13x - 14 = 0 it factors (x-14)(x+1) = 0 so x = 14 or x = -1 both question you posted were routine quadratics. Are you not studying quadratics??
