If you mean (x-8)/3 = (x+4)/2 then multiply by 6 to clear all the fractions: 2(x-8) = 3(x+4) 2x - 16 = 3x + 12 x = -28 check: (-28-8)/3 = -36/3 = -12 (x+4)/2 = (-28+4)/2 = -24/2 = -12
