tan is a trig operator, it needs an operand. You probably mean something like tan^2 Ø - tanØ = 0 factor it tanØ(tanØ - 1) = 0 so tanØ=0 or tanØ=1 Ø = 0 or Ø = π/4 or Ø = 5π/4 since it asked for the positive acute angle Ø = π/4 radians or 45°
