Pre-Calculus? I wonder what the question is. In a basic algebra course, you would be looking for zeroes, and probably get those by factoring. 2x^2+11x-21=0 (2x-3)(x+7)=0 x= 1.5, or x=-7

In Kentucky, where i am from, we do algebra and algebra two before pre-cal and calculus. I didnt realize that the problem could be solved in multiple ways and i apologise. But the solution should be done without calculus.

Pre-Calculus? That is a nasty equation. We might use Newton's Method, but that would be Calculus. I tried some "trial and erro" and got x = appr .371 using 2 decimals 4 sin .37 = 1.44646 e^.37 = 1.4477 I am curious what method was suggested that you should use.

nah. just recognize it's a parabola. Find the vertex. That will tell you how long it takes to get to its highest altitude. Then plug that value in for t in h(t) as given. Finding the vertex of a parabola is easy, right. Algebra I.

The "dx" at the end makes me think you are supposed to integrate [e^-x / e^-1] + 3 . But that would make it a calculus, not a precalculus, question. It is not clear what the question is. In any case, e^-x / e^-1 = e^(1-x) The integral of e^(1-x) + 3 dx is -e^(1-x) + 3x + C
