To calculate a %, you need to divide the top number by the bottom number. For example: 363/395 = 91.8%

so just like Ms. Sue said, you can you use a proportion. 1/20 would be the people owning at least one bird. So, 1/20 * 500 = 25. We get 25 people who were surveyed and owned at least one bird. Next time just post another question I guess :D
