Beside urinating, diarrhea and vomiting, sweating would be the another cause of water loss (for those animals that sweat). Cholera would cause some of these. I hope this helps a little more.

I believe that the "lines" that you would see (the cell wall and the plasma/cell membrane) would be thicker. They may even look like someone traced them with a pen, for example.
