Homework Help: Science: Ecology: Vegetation in Australia

Western Australia did not have much forest before settlement, but population increase and need for employment have destroyed what little forest Western Australia had.

Australian Capital Territory has mainly forests and vegetation. Major increases in population has done much damage to their forests.

New South Wales still has some remaining forests. Roughly half of the state is covered with forest. Humans once again destroyed much of this forest.

Northern Territory is mainly covered with forests in coastal areas, as much of it is grasses.

Queensland has much coastal forest. Tourism is very intense and perhaps has had a major impact on this forest diminishing.

South Australia has a great porportion of the Nullabor Plain, which leaves them with much scrub, dry land. A minscule part of this state is forest.

Tasmania is almost completely covered with forest. Tasmania's weather consists of much rain which makes it easier for forests to grow. It also has small population and small land mass.

Victoria has at least half rainforest. They also have a climate, which consists of much rain. However they have a large population.
