Create an image of a 2x3 evenly spaced grid on a white plane. The grid should be colored black with each point representing a dot. For emphasis, depict some squares that use the dots as vertices. Make sure to include diagonal squares to represent possible solutions for the question. The image should have no text included.

How many squares in the plane have two or more vertices on dots in this 2x3 grid? All dots are an equal distance from their nearest neighbours. *diagonal squares count*

I can only get 18, but some of my class members can get at least 30.

Do you go to the SMS

(spirit of math)

Does anyone go to spirit of math and does not like it ?

Omg lol so many som people

U guys are working on Seventh Challenge right? I'm stuck on problem 8), 9), and 10)! the answer to 8) is 144 but I can't get it...

It's 31, I saw the answer, but still stuck on how to get it. I go to Spirit of Math.

hahahaha here I am a year later stuck on this question... you don't get marks without work :(

I also go to SOM and I searched for this answer, who is Mr. Lanyon? No idea who he is. I am just a lurker trying to do Challenge 7.

YES AHMED I DO

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stop cheating kids

We don't want to use our brains! we can't figure it out, neither can our parents, so we search the answers up! Plain and simple!

yea Mr. Lanyon but how would you know who is who

How do you find out the number of squaresssss

I need help.

yea but how

Are you guys in grade 7 or 8

Hey peeps I also go to SMS the answer is less than 30 (I think) but definitely more than 24. (I asked Ms. D)

Its 31

Ok thanks

thanks

hmm general consensus is that the answer is 31 but how did u guys get it? need to show work lol

coming from som in the future im pretty late to this conversation but I got 33 because 22 which is all the 2 vertices touching squares, 8 for all the 3 verticie touching squares, and 2 for the 4 vertices touching squares. Idk if i got that wrong tho. well who knows.

banana

How many dots are there?

a 2x3 grid (6 dots) has 15 pairs

each of the pairs can be an edge or a diagonal

some squares involve 4 dots
... some, only two

There are more than 15, I know that for sure.

Oh thank you guys so much

Really needed it

so whats the answer?? working on seventh challenge too

Its 27 Because it is what it is

damn now i cant get this question but I think its 31

this is due tmmr someone pls help

I can't get past 20- pls help

I know the answer is 31, but don’t know how to get it.

I could be wrong but I KNOW IT IS MORE THAN 24

suck me off mr lanyon

mr lanyon beats me

mr lanyon does my first name

Isn't it technically infinite seeing as you can just expand the dimensions of the square infinitely?

There are 6 dots, because it is a 2x3 square.

22, becuase i know cuz i cheatded

I Can see that you guys are trying to search up the answers I will inform this right now!

Hey are you guys cheating?

don't search up the answer kids, use ur brain!!
