4. When John Quin doesn't explain the rules to Paul, this effects the story because it caused conflict between Paul and John. John started to hate Paul because of an accident which happened on Paul's first day at school. The accident was both Paul's and John's fault because John did not explain the rules or why Paul had to give over the paddle. Paul did not give the paddle over to John and instead, hit him with the paddle. If John explained the rules to Paul, they wouldn't have argued and Paul wouldn't have hit John with the paddle, which was the main reason why there is a major conflict between John and Paul.
