Golf has fascinated people for centuries in its boutisque surroundings it endures. Millions of players around the world compete, practice or play just for fun. The thing they all have in common is that they want; is to improve. Golf is a challenging game that has many obstacles to enjure. Golf is normally played over nine or eighteen holes, with the aim to score as low as they can.

Golf is played with a club and a ball, where the club has enough loft to lift the ball off the ground. There are many rules in the game of golf, where it’s there to make the game fair for the player and other golfers.

At the top level of golf, Professionals are known for their exceptional ability to play the game. The Majors, which are the biggest tournaments in world golf. Where only a handful of golfers make this elite field. The US PGA, US MASTERS, BRITISH OPEN, US OPEN and the PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIPS are supposedly the biggest tournaments;with the world’s best players competing.

A golf round of eighteen holes could be as long as 8km and as short as 5km. A Major Championship is played over four rounds. In a event of a tie a playoff shall proceed until a winner is eventurally found. There are specific names of how many shots it took for a hole to be completed. Par is what is expected. Bogey is one over, Double Bogey is two over, Triple Bogey is three over and so on. Albatross is three under Par. Eagle is is two under , Birdie is one under.

Golf is known for its beautiful surroundings and it’s unique beauty of natures gifts. Success in Golf can be related to success in life. Sand-traps is what players can get into and require great skill to get out of one. Golf tees is where a golfer starts a hole. The putting green is where a golfer must finish the hole by using the putter. The golf ball isin’t very big , where it’s big as a face of a swatch watch. This makes golfers look very closely and concentrate hard.

Terminology

PAR:Equal of number of shots taken; for what is expected.

BOGEY: One over fixed score,for what is expected.

DOUBLE BOGEY: Two over fixed score, for what is expected.

TRIPLE BOGEY: Three over fixed score, for what is expected

ALBATROSS: Three under fixed score, for what is expected.

EAGLE: Two under fixed score, for what is expected.

BIRDIE: One under fixed score, for what is expected.

PROFESSIONALS: Golfers who have devoted themselves to the game as a profession and for money.

MAJORS: These tournaments are only drawn by the best in the world.(only for a handful of us)

US PGA: This tournament is the last to be played during the year, where it can be played at any suitable golf course.

US MASTERS: This is the only major where it’s held at the same venue every April. It is also the youngest Major.(Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia)

BRITISH OPEN: Tradition has it’s purpose with the winner collecting a silver claret jug trophy for the taking.This Championship is nearly 150 years old.

US OPEN: This Championship is the second to be played in the year, where it has visited many famous courses over the years.
