Homework Help: Music: Instruments: Krar

The Krar is an interesting instrument from Ethiopia, in Africa. It is part of the string family because all strings are either plucked, stringed, or bowed. The Krar is plucked with a pitch range that varies depending of the number of strings on the instrument. Krars are skin covered and decorated with wood, cloth, and beads. The Krar originated from the ancient Greek lyre, which then traveled from Egypt to Sudan up the Nile River. The Krar is a chordophone because it produces sound from the vibration of strings. To save some waste, cooking pots can be utilized to create a resonator. Tortoises shell can be used too!
