Elena, i have a little problem with your calculation. I was thinking the velocity of the swimmer should tally with one of the adjacent sides of the triangle and not the hypothenus. the hypothenus should be in line with the resultant velocity of the swimmer.

Evaluate the following definite integral: integral at a = -1, b=2 -4dx/(9x^2+30x+25) Would I have to separate them in 3 terms as: -4 ∫1/9x^2 + ∫1/30x + ∫1/25 resulting in: -4/(3x^3)+ (15x^2)+ C? and from there I can replace a and b f(a) - f(b)? Thank you

Calculus - Verification
Hello, I just wanted to verify this definite integral and if my answer is good: a = 1 and b = 4 integral of (1 - 1/x^2)(x^2 + 1/x) dx = (x + 1/x)(x^3/3 + lnx) + C (4 + 1/4)(64/3 + ln4) - (1 + 1)(1/3 + ln1) = 96.56 - 0.6666 = 95.89 THank you

so I tried again and I got this, don't know if it's good:(I also put the wrong a and b) integral 0 = a and b = pi/3 of sinx dx/(1+cos)^2 u = cosx du= -sinxdx -1 du = sinx dx so: integral -1 du/(1+u)^2 = 1/(u+1) if x = 0, then u = 1 if x = pi/3, then u = 1 so 1/1+1 - 1/...
