A force F = 7^i + 6^j - 5^k lb. acts at the origin. Find the magnitude and direction cosines of the moment of this force about point A (-4; 5; 6) ft So in this case wouldn't vector r= -4i +5j +6k and vector F = 7i + 6j - 5k lb? and r X F = -61i +22j -59k = MA [MA]= 87.67 f...

A force of 26 lb. acts through a point (4; 5; -7) ft. and is equally inclined to the positive ends of the orthogonal axes. What is the moment of this force about the origin So i'm assuming vector r is 4i+5j-7k? And using the fact that cos^2α + cos^2β + cos^2γ...

Calculate the moment about a point (5; 4; 3) ft. caused by the forces P = 3^i - 2^j - 4^k lb. and Q = 5^i + 7^j - 2^k lb. acting at the points (7; 2; -2) ft. and (-3; -2; 5) ft., respectively. What I did was this; vector r1= (7,2,2) - (5,4,3) = 2i-2j-5k vector r2= (3,2,5) - (...

Such as (2i-7k+2k) + (-2i-6j+26k)? To get to get my final vector in which I take the squareroot of the sum of the squares? Also thanks I didn't recognize my conceptual error. But I still believe it would be M1 + M2.

Engineering
Thank you, I reevaluated my work and found all the errors. Though I'm not sure sure why you would subtract M1 and M2 if you are looking for the total force applied? Wouldn't M1 + M2 make more sense in this case?

A sleepy man drives a car along a straight section of highway at a constant speed of 89.6 km/h. His eyes begin to close, and his car moves at an angle of 4.90° relative to the road. For how long can his attention lapse before the car begins to move across the lane divider,...
