Homework Help: Health: Substance Abuse: The DARE Program
by Nicole Roemhildt
Hi my name is Nicole and I learned some very good facts in D.A.R.E this year. I would have to say the thing I liked most is having a great teacher to teach me the things I know. I don't think I would have understood some things if she did not take time out of her way to be there.
This year in D.A.R.E I learned some very good helpful informtion. Like how cigarettes can give you lounge cancer or may even cause death. Beer can also can do harm. You could end up in a car actsentdent from being drunk and could get hurt badley, you could lose your memory, and even could change your personality.
Nicotine is a drug that causes bloood vessels to narrow, and make the heart work harder. Chewing tobacco also contains nicotine. It can cause gum disease and white patches in the mouth.
Smoking tobacco, chewing tabacco, and snuff doesn't only give stains to teeth and things you don't want to see or smell ,but also can cause heart disease, cancer, and death. In fact cigarette smoking is the most preventable cause of death in the United States. Many people choose to smoke even though they know what can happen to them. They just wanted to do it without even thinking if it was the right choice in what to do in life.
Marijuana is a mind-altering drug. Poeple who choose to do it have slow reflexes, changes in sense of time in space, and a short attention span. Marijuana is also known as pot, weed, grass, and reefers.
The things I learned in D.A.R.E will definitely help me in the future. I have learned that you get a shorter life, lose memory, have a different personality, and can go to jail. It also takes up a lot of your money and a lot of other things. In the future I don't want any of these things in my life, and that is why I want to stay drug-free.
