Hi,
I would just like to tell you that I completely agree with this article, I think the SAT's are VERY unfair. I am a college freshman, who received very little financial aid to help me pay for college, getting two separate $500 scholarships, and neither were from the university I chose to attend to. I graduated high school with a 3.96, took three AP courses, was a member of the National Honor Society, did numerous activities within my school, volunteered my time to the community, participated in student government, and was a three sport varsity athlete for all four years. I was absolutely shocked when I found out that I was not going to get any financial aid from my school, and all because my SAT scores were 30 points too low to meet the cut-off of getting $2,500 per year. To this day I am unsure as to why colleges put so much emphasis on high SAT scores, because I believe they are not a predicter of how well a student will perform in college. I am now nearing the end of my third term here, and so far have maintained a 4.0 GPA. I have a very hard time accepting the fact that all of my hard work and effort that I put into high school got me nearly nothing, no appreciation for what I have done. Thank you for writing and sharing this article, I hope it will help more people realize that the SAT's are so unfair.
