This is a very short story. It takes place in a supermarket during the summer.

Who are archaeologists? Archaeologists are people that study ancient civilizations as an occupation.

What caused the destruction of Pompeii? The destruction was caused by the Volcano Vesuvius, which was a distastrous eruption for the people of Pompeii.

What is it that mainly catches the attention and imagination of people today? The thing about Pompeii that catches people attention today is the great entertainment, public baths and the amphitheatre.

What is the meaning of the last paragraph? what it means is that despite the disaster that occured in Pompeii many years ago it still lives on to this very day.

Definitions

lava - the molten or fluid, rock (magma) which issues from a volcanic vent.

engulfed - to swallow up in or as in a chasm.

inscriptions - to write or engrave (words, characters ect).

amphitheatre - a level area of an oval or circular shape surrounded by rising ground.
