1. The title of the book is "From the Mixed-Up Files
of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler". The author and
illustrator of this book is E.L. Konisburg.

Kincaid, Jamie Kincaid, and Mrs. Basil E.
Frankweiler. Claudia and Jamie are siblings.
Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler comes later in the
story, but she is an important character to
the story.
Claudia and Jamie Kincaid are regular grade
school children. They are ordinary kids from
Greenwich. Claudia was the one who wanted to run
away. She chose Jamie, the second youngest of her
three brothers. Jamie was pleased.
One reason Claudia Chose Jamie was because he
was the richest out of all of her brothers. I think
that it was a smart thing to pick Jamie for that
reason because they would need money to survive. Most of the story took place in Manhattan of
of New York City. The children stayed in the
Metropolitan Museum of Art for a week. At the
end of their journey the decide to stop by Mrs.
Frankweiler's house because of something to
do with the problem. This is where Mrs. Frankweiler
comes into the story.
Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is an 82 year old
woman. She lives in Farmington, Connecticut. She
is very good with children. She had wished someday
to have a child of her own. She likes to play cards.
The children liked her enough to be able to call her
their grandmother.
3. The main problem in this story is Claudia's
reason to run away. She wanted to come back
different. She wanted to accopmlish something.
Whether it was to keep it herself or to spread to
everyone. She did not know what that would be, at
first. Once she saw the sculpture of Angel and that
they did not know who sculptured it, she knew that
would be her accomplishment. She worked very
hard to find out who sculptured it. They really needed to know if Michelangelo
had sculptured it. They went to the library. They
sneaked through the halls at night. They sent a
letter to the Museum. They responded saying
that they knew about the information already,
and that it did not show that Michelangelo
created the sculpture.
4. When Jamie was about to order the tickets
for the ride home, Claudia said they needed the
tickets to go to Farmington, Connecticut instead.
They went. They met Mrs. Frankweiler. They
made deals. Claudia and Jamie would have to find
the file in her cabinets, without mixing the files
up. Jamie and Claudia would get the signature of
Michelangelo signing the paper for the sculpture,
under Mrs. Frankweiler's will. Mrs. Frankweiler
would get every detail of how, where, and why
they ran away. It seemed fair to everyone.
It turned out Michelangelo had sculptured
"Angel". It was their secret. Between the three of
them.
