A 200h bag of potato chips contains 4.8MJ of energy. How long would it take you working at your maximum body power to consume this energy?

So we did 2 trials where we ran up the stairs, and my final power for 1 was 246W and for the other it was 338W.

So I assume you divide the 338 by the 4.8MJ but they're different units so I'm not really sure what to do. Thank you so much

Sorry I meant to write 200g

I guess 1 MJ means 10^6 Joules????

watts * seconds = Joules
so
338 watts * time in seconds = 4.8*10^6 Joules

t = 4.8 *10^6 / 338

To calculate how long it would take you to consume the energy in a 200g bag of potato chips, we need to convert the power values to the same units as the energy.

1 joule (J) = 1 watt-second (W·s)

1 megajoule (MJ) = 1 million joules (1,000,000 J)

First, let's convert the power values to joules per second (watts).

Power (W) = Power (W) = 246 W = 246 J/s
Power (W) = Power (W) = 338 W = 338 J/s

Next, let's convert the energy in the potato chips bag to joules.

Energy (J) = 4.8 MJ × 1,000,000 J/MJ
Energy (J) = 4,800,000 J

Now, we can calculate the time (in seconds) it would take to consume the energy.

Time (s) = Energy (J) / Power (J/s)

For the first trial:
Time (s) = 4,800,000 J / 246 J/s

For the second trial:
Time (s) = 4,800,000 J / 338 J/s

Calculating these values will give you the time it would take to consume the energy in the potato chip bag at your maximum body power for each trial.

To calculate the time it would take you to consume the energy in a 200g bag of potato chips, we first need to convert the power units to match. The power is typically measured in watts (W), while the energy is given in megajoules (MJ). Here's how you can proceed:

1. Convert the power to watts:
- Trial 1: 246W
- Trial 2: 338W

2. Now, we need to convert the energy from megajoules to joules since the power is in watts:
- 1 MJ = 1,000,000 J
- 4.8 MJ = 4,800,000 J

3. Divide the energy by the power to get the time:
- For Trial 1: 4,800,000 J / 246 W = 19,512 seconds
- For Trial 2: 4,800,000 J / 338 W = 14,201 seconds

So, based on your two trials, it would take you approximately 19,512 seconds (or about 5.42 hours) in Trial 1 and 14,201 seconds (or about 3.94 hours) in Trial 2 to consume the energy in a 200g bag of potato chips while working at your maximum power.
