What would be a person target heart rate be if they are 14 years old?

I know it starts like 220-14=206 but then what...
Please help

206 is theoretically the most your heart should beat per minute.

However, I don't the formula works well for anyone under age 20.

You're welcome.

To determine the target heart rate for a 14-year-old, you can use the formula 220 minus their age. However, this method is a general estimation and may not be accurate for everyone.

Once you have calculated 220 - 14 = 206, you can determine the target heart rate range by taking a percentage of this maximum heart rate. The target heart rate range generally falls between 50-85% of the maximum heart rate.

To find the lower end of the range, multiply the maximum heart rate by 0.5 (50%) and add it to your resting heart rate. The resting heart rate is the number of beats per minute when you are at rest. The upper end of the range can be determined by multiplying the maximum heart rate by 0.85 (85%) and adding it to the resting heart rate.

For example, let's assume your resting heart rate is 70 beats per minute. To find your target heart rate range:

Lower end: (206 x 0.5) + 70 = 183 beats per minute
Upper end: (206 x 0.85) + 70 = 248 beats per minute

So, the target heart rate for a 14-year-old with a resting heart rate of 70 beats per minute would be between 183 and 248 beats per minute during exercise. Keep in mind that this is a general guideline, and individual factors can affect heart rate.
