In the sentences above, what does "Yosemite" mean?
Is it Yosemite Valley or Yosemite National Park? - Anonymous, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 1:05am
Yosemite valley is in Yosemite National Park, the first thing that came to mind when reading the sentences was the National Park,

the sentence that says "Yosemite is famous for its natural wonders." makes it more clear that they are referring to the park, because the park has many natural wonders in it

Thank you for your help. The following is a definition of 'Yosemite' in a dictionary.
This is from an online dictionary.
Accoring to this dictionary, Yosemite is a valley. Is this right?

Yosemite
noun
1.
a valley in E California, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains: a part of Yosemite National Park. 7 miles (11 km) long.

The name "Yosemite" could be referring either to the park or to the valley, but in the first sentence above, I'd take it to be the whole park.

Yes, according to the online dictionary definition you provided, Yosemite is referred to as a valley in California. However, it's important to note that Yosemite is not just a valley, but also a national park. The valley is a prominent feature within the larger Yosemite National Park, which encompasses a vast area of natural wonders including waterfalls, granite cliffs, meadows, and forests. So while Yosemite can refer to the valley itself, it is more commonly used to refer to the entire national park.
