The sum of a few numbers if 30, the first number is 2 less than the second, and the third is 4 less than the first. What are the order of numbers and what are the numbers?

This is a post by one of my classmates that I'm supposed to solve.
I'm probably doing it wrong, but I can't seem to get 30 with the equations he's giving me. I'm either getting 31 or 28... please help?

It appears that there are at least 3 numbers

let the first be x
then the second is x+2
and the third is x-4

x + x+2 + x-4 ≤ 30
3x ≤ 32
x ≤ 10 2/3

Assuming that your numbers are whole numbers
x could be 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10

possible cases:
5, 7, 1, .... ---> others that add up to 17
6, 8, 2, ...----> others that add up to 14
7, 9, 3, .... ----> others that add up to 11
8, 10, 4 ... ---> others that add up to 8
9, 11, 5 ... ---> others that add up to 5
10, 12, 6, ----> others that add up to 2
