I assume you mean
(1/3)(b+4) = 1/2
b+4 = 3/2
b = -5/2
If you really want b=2, then
1/3 * (2+4)
= 1/3 * 6
= 2
not 1/2
(1/3)(b+4) = 1/2
b+4 = 3/2
b = -5/2
If you really want b=2, then
1/3 * (2+4)
= 1/3 * 6
= 2
not 1/2
