9 - 3 / (1/3) + 1
In that case:
9 - 3 / (1/3) + 1
= 9 - [3 / (1/3)] + 1
= 9 - [3 * 3 ] + 1
= 9 - 9 + 1
= 0 + 1 = 1

If that person meant:
[(9 - 3)/ (1/3)] + 1
The solution would be:
[(9 - 3)/ (1/3)] + 1
= [ 6 / (1/3)] + 1
= [ 6 * 3 ] + 1
= 18 + 1 = 19

You can either do it this way:
(9 - 1) + 1
= 8 + 1 = 9
Or this way:
9 + (-1 + 1)
= 9 + 0 = 9

Same mistake. It's either:
(9 - 9) + 1
= 0 + 1 = 1
Or:
9 + (-9 + 1)
= 9 + (-8)
= 9 - 8 = 1
Always remember the order of operations. If there are brackets you do those first, if there are none you do divide and multiplication first and then work it out from left to right.
Here's one way to interpret this problem.
9-3 = 6
6 / (1/3) = 6 * 3 = 18
18 + 1 = 19
3/1/3=3*3=9
9-9=0
0+1=1
Do the divide first and as it involves a fraction you have to turn into a times. 3/1/3 becomes 3*3=9 then do it from left to right 9-9=0 0+1=1 The answer is 1.
FFS division 1st, then 9-9 is 0 plus one is 1 how is this open to debate?
