182x100=18200/30=607
607-182=425

After you arrive at an answer, you need to do a sanity check. Your answer makes no sense. The problem says that the membership rose by 30% to 182. So how can you possibly accept the answer that last year it was 425?
a proportion needs two ratios or fractions:
182/x = 1.30/1.00
