if a trapezoid has 3 sides that are all 5 inches long what are the possibilities for the long side? Like can it be 5 to make it a square?

It could be 5, but then it would be a square, and not really a trapezoid.

Since three sides are all 5, it has two parallel sides of length 5.

So, if you play around with some designs, you will see that forcing a 3rd side to be also 5, the figure can be low and flat, or square-is. But it will have to be a parallelogram. The 4th side must also be 5.

Starting out by saying the figure is a trapezoid is a bit misleading.

A trapezoid usually is defined to have two unequal parallel sides..
