I have a question on a quiz, and I cant seem to figure it out I have to add 50,56,52,46,48,42,38 and that got me 332 then I have to divide it by 7 and get the mean, but then I get a remainder of 3 and I don't know what to do because I have to find that absolute deviation, the mean of the set of data and the distance of each number from the mean, What does that even mean? May anyone please give me an example or a tip I don't want the answer to the problem because then I would be cheating thank you :)

mean=332/7=47.4 or 47

absolute deviation
from mean for data points
3,9,5,1,1,5,9
how did I get those? subtracting the mean 47 from each, taking then the absolute difference.
example: 50-47=3
56-47=9
52-47=5 those are the first three.
Now the mean of absolute difference or MAD, is add them up, divide by 7, I get33/7=4.9
Now the distance of each deviation from MAD is
3,9,5,1,1,5,9 AD
1.9;4.1;1.9;o.1;0.1;1.9;3.9 this is the deviation from the mean, it is commonly used as a measure of dispersion.
