if i have a 21% solution of a product, and i need to make it a 9% solution of the same product what do i do?

i am trying to dilute a product that is 21% to a 9% soultion so it can safety be used on cats. i know what to dilute it with, but i do not know how much or the math to do the actual dilution? please help, math is not my specialty. :)

you are reducing the concentration by a factor of 9/21 = 3/7.

So, that means you must increase the volume by a factor of 7/3.

So, just add 4/3 of the original volume, using the diluting agent.

As an example, if you have 3mL of 21% solution, adding 4mL of water will give you 7mL of diluted solution.

.21*3 = .09*7
