1. After Roosevelt made the destroyers-for-bases deal with Britian, some Americans called him a dictator. Do you think Roosevelt was right or wrong in his actions?

A: I think Roosevelt was right in his actions because he was only defending his country and trying to do what he could to prevent it from going to war.

2. How did the Lend-Lease Act help the Allied war effort?

A: The Lend-Lease enabled the United States to lend or lease more than $40 billion in weapons, vehicles, and other supplies to those involved in the Allied war effort.

3. What finally caused the United States to become involved in World War I?

A: Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 finally caused the United States to become involved in World War I.

4. Why do you think the British were able to prevent the Germans from invading their country? Do you think Hitler was wise in canceling the attempted invasion?

A: I think the Bristish were able to prevent the Germans from invading their country because of the people's strong will, their strong air force, and their development of radar. Because Hitler called off the invasion of Dunkirk, the British were given a three-day delay, which was long enough to evacuate 338,000 British and French troops. So, I do not think Hitler was wise in canceling the attempted invasion. If anything, it was a poor move on his part.

your answer on 1 is as good as I, it asks for your answer. Personally, I think Roosevelt was trying to get involved in the war doing the lend lease

3. World War I or WWII? Pearl Harbor was WWII.

4. Radar helped, strong will helped. However, the failing invasion of Russia played a great part.
Again, your thinking is as good as I, however, his error was going into Russia first, it cost him dearly.

Will you check my answers as well? I'd like to have a second opinion.

I accidentally typed your name into the first name box. I'm sorry.

Bobpursley's response is great!

He's really more knowledgeable than I am on this topic.

Ms. Sue may be occupied elsewhere. bobpursley is correct, and so are you, as far as you go. For both 1 and 2, FDR realized that if Britain fell to the Germans, the United States would be left with no ally in Europe at all. He also knew, as Churchill had convinced him, that Britain could not stand alone without U.S. help. FDR also realized a bond between the U.S. and the U.K. as culturally similar, England being the "Mother Country", etc.

I agree with bobpursley that Hitler's invasion of Russia first was a fatal mistake on his part. I'm not really sure what Dunkirk had to do with it. Dunkirk was on the European continent, so Hitler's taking of that city had nothing to do with the invasion he planned. The evacuation of British troops did enable the U.K. to maintain its army, which would have been basically defeated if it had been captured at Dunkirk, so it had a role in that sense when it came to Hitler's planned invasion of the British isles.

Ah! There is Ms. Sue! As I was writing, she responded. :)
