Sharing what new words you have come across in the book would be one idea that would be most worthy to share in a literary discussion about The Giver. One new word that I found in the books was the word languid which I now know means weak. Another idea that you could share are any predictions or questions you might have. Towards the end of the book, I made a prediction that Jonas and Gabe would find what they were looking for. As I was reading the book, I was able to picture in my head what was happening. For example, when Jonas and Gabe were hiding in the bushes near the river, and catiching fish, I pictured Gabe laying on the dirt, and Jonas using the blanket to catch fish. During the night when they traveled past the community, I pictured Gabe sleeping on the back of the bike and they were riding through a wide open area covered in dirt. Also, connecting what you have read so far with things that have happened at home in your personal life.
