assume x > 0.

what percent of 8x is 5x?
i know that the equation is
5x/8x = p/100
and i have to multiply both sides by 100, but i'm not sure how to multiply 100 * 5x / 8x?

what is 65% of 80x?
again, i know that the equation is
a/80x = 65/100
and i have to multiply both sides by 80x, but i'm not sure how to multiply 80x * a / 80x and 80x * 65 / 100

what percent of 8x is 5x?

---> 5x/(8x) * 100% , the x's cancel
= (5/8)(100)%
= 62.5%

65% of 80x
= .65(80)x
= 52x

Don't make things more difficult than they are

lets admit we all are sixth graders who did big ideas book for math 7/8

I had this question too.

I know its late but all you do is...
5x/8x=p/100
multiply cross products: 100(5x)=500x and 8xp
divide by 8x and you get p=52x
Have a good day!!!

Yes

Not making things more difficult than what they are, that's the way my teacher requires me to solve it. But thanks for helping.

This stuff is bull crap why do we have to learn this

That is wrong u said 8xp but then divided by 8x lol. Actually turn 5x/8x=p/100 into 5/8=p/100 by cancelling out the x's and then just solve ez pz cross products 500/8=x and then u have percent

i got nothing but my love for Mr.Cecrest

I might have the same teacher! Ms. Wong?? You have it half correct. Just multiply 5x/8x by 100, and that becomes .05x/.08x. You actually have it, just not completely.

this really helped me learn how to do this thank you
