So basically just put down how it's interesting or suspenseful, has some action in it which is cool and how you love the message the book sends about the importance of memory and the reason why you chose these ideas, was because in the book the Giver gives Jonas memories and he ends up becoming more enlightened and has emotions and creativity and the community that is set for everyone is weird from the normal world and normal communities because in their communities they have strict rules and procedures in order for there to be no conflict. Then also how at the end of the book Jonas tries to escape with baby Gabriel(I think that's his name) so he doesn't get sent to "Elsewhere" which is actually death so he has to go through a series of events in order to finally arrive at a place he can call home. So for reading roles, you can just go to the first lesson in the unit, go to one of the pages listed reading roles and read over them, choose one and the reading roles sheet basically tells you how it can help you understand a book like "The Giver" better.
