Q. Neil found out that the Sunday paper that he delivers is about 1 pound and 12 ounces. He delivers 39 newspapers on Sunday's. How much do the 39 newspapers weigh? (Hint: 16 ounces = 1 pound)

A. I tried adding 16 12 times but that didn't work after I found out it was 182 POUNDS, I really don't get it please help :))

Let's change the 12 ounces to a decimal. 12/16 = 3/4 = 0.75

1 pound, 12 ounces = 1.75 pounds

1.75 * 39 = 68.25 pounds

Obviously, they do not weight 182 pounds.

Thanks!

To find the weight of 39 newspapers, we need to convert their weight from pounds and ounces to a single unit. Since 16 ounces equal 1 pound, we can perform the following steps:

1. Convert the 1 pound and 12 ounces into a single unit of ounces:
1 pound = 16 ounces
1 pound and 12 ounces = 16 + 12 = 28 ounces

2. Now, we have the weight of one newspaper in ounces (28 ounces). To find the weight of 39 newspapers, we can multiply the weight of one newspaper by 39:
28 ounces * 39 = 1092 ounces

So, the weight of 39 newspapers is 1092 ounces. However, if you want to convert this back into pounds, we can do that as well:

3. Since 16 ounces equal 1 pound, we divide 1092 ounces by 16 to get the weight in pounds:
1092 ounces / 16 = 68.25 pounds

So, the weight of 39 newspapers is approximately 68.25 pounds.

Thanks!

You're welcome.
