This math is killing me! How do I find the area of a flower bed in square feet if it is triangular in shape and the base is 3 yards and the height is 2 yards? Please help, I am feeling overwhelmed.
Ms Sue The answer I got is 3 yards.
Is it 3 square feet?
1 yard = 3 feet
A = bh/2
A = (9 * 6)/2
A = 26 square feet

Isnt it 27? Not 26?
And if one bag of topsoil covers 10 square feet, how many bags are needed to cover this flower bed? Would that be 1 bag?
No.
Thanks again Ms. Sue I think I will rest my 70 year old brain until tomorrow.
LOL!! You're just a kid! I'm 80! :-)
You're welcome!
Yes, 54/2=27. Not 26!
I understand that math can sometimes feel overwhelming, but don't worry, I'm here to help you! Finding the area of a triangular flower bed is not as difficult as it may seem.
To find the area of a triangle, you can use the formula:
Area = (base × height) / 2
In this case, the base of the triangular flower bed is given as 3 yards, and the height is given as 2 yards. To find the area in square feet, we need to convert yards to feet.
There are 3 feet in a yard, so to convert 3 yards to feet, we multiply by 3:
3 yards × 3 feet/yard = 9 feet
Similarly, the height of 2 yards can be converted to feet:
2 yards × 3 feet/yard = 6 feet
Now, we can substitute these values into the formula:
Area = (base × height) / 2
= (9 feet × 6 feet) / 2
= 54 square feet / 2
= 27 square feet
Therefore, the area of the triangular flower bed is 27 square feet.
