The fencing goes around the garden. 24 / 4 sides = 6 meters on each side.

A = LW

A = 6 * 6

A = 36 square meters

srry. the question was I have a rectangular garden and I only have 24 meters of fence to go around it. so what is the largest area I can make the rectangular garden. thanks for your time and sorry for bothering!

I gave you the answer. What don't you understand about my answer?

What is the USE format ?

Ms Sue correctly assumed that the largest rectangle one can have for a given perimeter is a square, and gave you a correct solution based on that assumption.

Were you supposed to find the answer without making that assumption?

Let me know and I will show you how.

I need it to be a rectangle

A square is a rectangle.

how? im in grade 5 so I might not understand the language you use

the use format is:

U:understand
S:solve
E:explain

Do you understand this problem?
