What I did:
(2x,-2,8)-(-12,3y,18)-(2,-1,1/2z)=(0,0,0)
(2x-14,-1-3y,-10-1/2z)=(0,0,0)
Textbook answer is -5, -1/3, -20
(2x,-2,8)-(-12,3y,18)-(2,-1,1/2z)=(0,0,0)
2x+12-2 = 2x+10 = 0: x = -5
the equations for y and z work out as desired.
