How is this so far? and what else should i add, i need two pages and i have only one done, due today. help? I'm doing like a journalist.

I Josephine A. Walker was a slave for Harry Richardson. Every morning I had to serve him, I had to be up by 4am and was unable to go to bed till 12am midnight. I had to cook, clean and do anything I was told, If I didn’t obey his orders were to me to get beaten with a whip as a punishment.

I work for many years hoping one day I will be able to be my own person. I would cry nightly and pray for freedom, during the years of 1860 through 1863 I was able to listen to radio, so I got to hear what’s going on, in the outside world.

On 11-06-1860 Abraham Lincoln who was elected president declared government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free. Abraham Lincoln issues the emancipation proclamation 01-01-1863 free slave.

By me hearing this I was thinking there was hope in ending all of as slave, not just picking certain ones to be free, but deep inside I knew it was still going to take time. On March 04, 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as the 16th president of the United States.

When I listened to the radio hearing this it was the first time in a long time I was able to smile knowing hope for my future words near. I continued doing my daily’s orders and waiting for days to past quickly, Day and nights came Mr. Richardson became more abusive for the little’s mistakes.

Finally on 1863 the best news
for any slavery (we were) finally free. We can be are own person, many blacks ran to the roads and were happy to be free at last.

i need two pages long, and only have one. anyone has anything i can add in or links? storys i can read about and put into so it can make since.

what i'm suppose to do..

In this portfolio assignment, you have chosen an event from the Civil War or pre-war era, have taken notes on this event, and now will take on a persona from the event. For example, you could choose to portray a Union soldier at Gettysburg, a plantation owner's wife during Sherman's March to the Sea, or a slave hearing about the Emancipation Proclamation. You will create a two-page narrative that demonstrates the important facts about the event through the eyes of your chosen person

It seems like you have a solid start to your assignment, but you're looking to expand your narrative to fill up two pages. Here are a few suggestions for things you can add to your story to make it more detailed and engaging:

1. Provide more background information: You can include details about your character's life before they became a slave. What was their childhood like? Did they have any aspirations or dreams for the future? This will help the reader understand the full extent of the character's hopes and dreams for freedom.

2. Describe the living conditions and hardships: Write about the physical and emotional toll of being a slave. Discuss the daily routines, the physical labor, and the harsh punishments inflicted by the slave-owner. This will give the reader a deeper understanding of the character's struggle and resilience.

3. Incorporate personal experiences: Add specific anecdotes or incidents that your character witnessed or experienced during their time as a slave. This could include witnessing acts of kindness or cruelty, memorable interactions with other slaves or slave-owners, or significant events that impacted their perspective.

4. Highlight the impact of historical events: Since your character is a slave, you can delve deeper into their reaction to significant events such as the Emancipation Proclamation or Abraham Lincoln's presidency. How did they hear about these events? How did it affect their hopes and dreams for freedom? Explore their emotions and thoughts surrounding these pivotal moments.

5. Include dialogue: Add dialogue to your narrative to make it more dynamic and realistic. This can be conversations between your character and other slaves, interactions with the slave-owner, or even prayers or inner thoughts.

6. Research and reference other historical accounts: Read stories and firsthand accounts of slaves during that era to gain a better understanding of their experiences and perspectives. You can include references or allusions to these accounts in your narrative, making it more authentic and accurate.

Remember, as you add these elements to your narrative, make sure they flow naturally and contribute to the overall story you're trying to tell. It's important to strike a balance between historical accuracy and creating an engaging and relatable character. Good luck with your assignment!
