Please help me with the following:

Which lines are written in iambic pentameter? Check all that apply.

A. The smoke of my own breath
B. And what I assume you shall assume
C. I never saw a moor
D. Yet certain am I of the spot
E. And summer's lease hath all too short a date
F. Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st

I have a hard time with these, but can someone tell me if I am correct or not?

I think the answers are B and F, but I am not sure about any of the selection.

Please help me by checking my answers. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! :)

Only two of these lines have 10 syllables.

Do they both have the same pattern of accented syllables?

http://iambicpentameter.net/

After reading the website a few times, and trying to match the lines up with the "da Dum" pattern, I think E and F are the answers.

E seems to have more of the "da DUM" pattern than B, so I think B is out.

I also think that F is still one of the answers because it does seem to have five iambs.

Would E and F be correct?

E and F are correct.

Thank you Ms. Sue, for your help! :)

I'm having to read Shakespeare this semester for school, so it's going to be hard for me to understand some things that deal with his writing.

Also, I forgot to ask, are E and F the only answers? Or is there any others that I am going to need to figure out?

E and F are the only answers. The other lines have less than 10 syllables.

Reading Shakespeare isn't easy. However, Sparknotes has modern English translations of some of his plays.

Cool! Thank you!

I will probably look into Sparknotes for translations. At some point, I know I going to need some English translations, so Sparknotes should work.

You're welcome. And, of course, we're here to help you. Writeacher and Reed are especially experienced in interpreting literature.

She takes forever to answer one of my friends.

Maddie, sometimes you justhave to be patient with this website and it's tutors.

Just like what the website says when you are going to post a question:

"Please be patient. All tutors are volunteers, and sometimes a tutor may not be immediately available. Please be patient while waiting for a response to your question."
