Two lines are drawn on a co-ordinate axis. The equation of the first line is y=-2,and the equation of the other line is y=3x+1. What are the co-ordinates of their intersection point?

I have been on this for hours and can't figure out how to do this. Please help. Thank you

c'mon. The lines intersect where the functions are equal:

-2 = 3x+1

Now find x, and you know darn well that y = -2, since one of the lines is y = -2 for any x.

y = -2 is a function of x, like any other linear function. It just so happens that no matter what x is, y = -2!

y = 0x-2
