How does the growth of the world's population today compare with its growth 100 years ago? Explain why the changes have taken place.

My essay:
Today's world population growth compared to the population growth 100 years ago is a big, big difference. The population has doubled many, many times, and even right now the world's population is still skyrocketing. There are several reasons for this. There have been scientific advances in health and medicine. Governments are providing cleaner public drinking water and more sanitary waste removal. With this, people are less likely to get sick. Another reason for rapid population growth is agriculture. Scientists have created newer, better methods to increase the world's food supply, and to make it healthier. They have created method's to protect crops from harmful insects, and to raise crops with less water. This is called the Green Revolution.

The population has doubled many, many times, and even right now the world's population is still skyrocketing.

The essay is about growth today versus growth 100 years ago.
The population has doubled many times since when? 100 years ago? 1 thousand years ago? 100,000 years ago.
You are talking about an exponential growth function here. The population next year is 0.1 % or 1 % or 10 % greater than last year. In other words Population now = 1.001 or 1.01 or 1.1 times the population a year ago. You do not say what that number is and what it was 100 years ago. I have a hunch that it is not all that different, there are just more people and therefore more babies but not more babies per mother.
In other words I think you need to define what you mean by population growth. Do you mean more babies per mother of just more babies because there are more mothers?

Population growth is just how many people compared from 100 years ago to now. That's what I think it is.

The goal of the essay is to tell what caused a skyrocketing population from 100 years ago to now. Well, I don't think I ended the essay good, can you help me end it? How about this:

Those are just a few of the reasons, but modern technology has certainly done a role in the worldwide population growth.

Nevermind I got it but thanks!!!

Ok, good luck :)

I think if you just want to compare populations you should say:

The world population is much larger than it was a hundred years ago due to:

The things you mentioned.

Do not get into growth or growth rate because that is mathematics of exponential functions.

ok thanks!

My answer for this essay is:

The growth of the world's population has created a major difference from what was 100 years ago. More humans have entered the world and helped society in a great way. 100 years ago, there wasn't much of the world's population than it is now. As years passed by, humans have created inventions with metal and other materials to make the society larger and better for everyone, like in the Industrial Revolution. Homes, such as caves and tepees, were then updated to buildings of bricks, better houses with strong walls, apartments, and mansions. They even created vehicles to look like indoor houses, such as RV's and limos. The world has grown for many years, and who knows what will be in the future.
