This year for my science fair project I will be testing to see if music affects a person's blood pressure. I will have a participant get relaxed (for 5 minutes). After he/she is relaxed, I will take his/her blood pressure with a digital sphygmomanometer (instrument used to take your blood pressure). I will record the reading. I will then have the participant listen to the first music selection. After the song is over, I will retake their blood pressure. I will record this information. I will repeat this process with all the 7 music styles I have. They will be listening to the music with an IPod.

I know exactly what I am going to do for my experiment, but I'm not sure how to word the problem/question of my experiment. Should I say 'How Does Music Affect a Person's Blood Pressure' or 'Do Different Types of Music Affect a Person's Blood Pressure in Different Ways?' I'm not so sure. If I include the word(s) 'How' and 'Affect' in my problem/question of my experiment does 'How' (in the title 'How Does Music Affect A Person's Blood Pressure') mean does music affect blood pressure or not, Or In what ways does music affect blood pressure? Thank you!

Does your research of previous work indicate that music affects blood pressure? If so, then you can use any of the beginning sentences and title, although my preference is the second one. If not, then you might want to make your title and beginning sentence more general.

Hint: Use a Latin Square design for the sequences of the music pieces, so you will nullify any effect of the sequence position for each type of music.

wow!!!I DO THE EXACT SAME TOPIC IN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE FAIR THIS YEAR!!!!

WHAT IS YOUR RESULT???
DID.YOUR EXPERIMRNT WOEK??

Both of the problem/question wordings you mentioned are appropriate for your experiment. However, they convey slightly different nuances.

1. "How Does Music Affect a Person's Blood Pressure?"
This wording suggests that you are investigating whether music has an effect on blood pressure. It implies that you are looking to determine if there is indeed an impact.

2. "Do Different Types of Music Affect a Person's Blood Pressure in Different Ways?"
This wording implies that you are specifically interested in comparing the effects of different types of music on blood pressure. It suggests that you want to explore if there are variations in the impact based on the genre or style of the music.

Including the word "how" in the title indicates that you are investigating the causal relationship between music and blood pressure. It signifies that you are seeking to understand the mechanisms or ways in which music may influence blood pressure.

Both approaches are valid, and the choice ultimately depends on your research goals and the specific emphasis you want to place on the impact of music or the differentiation between different music styles.
