Chef Alonso is creating a recipe called Spicy Italian Chicken with the following ingredients: 3/4 pound chicken, 2 1/2 cups tomato sauce, 1 teaspoon oregano, and 1/2 teaspoon of his special hot sauce.

d) Chef Alonso only has three measuring spoons: 1 teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon, and 1/4 teaspoon. Can he measure the new amounts of oregano and hot sauce exactly? Explain why or why not.

For A, the recipe makes 1 1/2 servings. Since each serving is 1/2, you divide 3/4 by 1/2 which is 1 1/2.
For B, Chef Alonso should multiply 3/4 by 4/3 to get 2 servings. This is because one serving is 1/2 lb and two servings is 1lb. If you multiply 3/4 to 4/3, you get 12/12 or 1.

For C, you multiply each ingredients to 4/3. Tomato Sauce - 5/2 x 4/3 = 20/6 or 3 2/6. Oregano - 1/1 x 4/3 = 1 1/3. Special Hot Sauce - 1/2 x 4/3 = 4/6 or 2/3. 1lb chicken, 3 2/6 cups of tomato sauce, 1 1/3 teaspoons of oregano, and 2/3 teaspoon of his special Hot Sauce.
For D, he can measure the oregano, but not the hot sauce.
